Mothers: look to Christ!

Carrying a little life that is perfectly crafted and knit by a Holy God is incredible. Watching that baby grow to become a wide-eyed and curious little toddler is such a privilege. Being called “mama” is an honor. Motherhood is empowering. (If that’s the word we must use.) But the thing is, I wouldn’t be able to care for my children, to love them selflessly, to wait patiently, or to speak kindly to them without knowing my own Savior who does the same for me. One who beckons us to bring our burdens and lay them at His feet. One who imputes His righteousness onto us. One who waits patiently while we stumble around, thinking we know best. I am nothing without Christ; none of us are.

I urge you, mothers and mothers to be- don’t look to motherhood to fulfill and empower you. Look to Christ! Motherhood is wonderful, but it should not be the pinnacle of my life. I need this reminder most of all. Friends, look to Christ.
